Protein pancakes topped with banana slices, yogurt, and blueberries on a white plate

Protein Oatmeal Chocolate Pancakes

Introduction

These chocolate protein pancakes are a healthy twist on a classic breakfast favorite.

Using oat flour and protein powder, they offer a nutritious option for those who want to maintain energy and muscle without sacrificing flavor.

Oats provide complex carbohydrates for long-lasting energy, and protein powder supports muscle repair and recovery.

This recipe is a simple way to learn how to make pancakes without added sugar or flour.

I created it as part of my fitness routine to enjoy something sweet while still eating clean and staying consistent with training.

Ingredients

(for 2 to 3 pancakes)

  • Oats … 50g (finely ground is best)
  • Chocolate protein powder … 20 to 25g
  • Egg … 1 (or just egg whites)
  • Baking powder … ½ tsp
  • Milk or soy milk … 70 to 100ml (adjust for consistency)
  • No sweetener needed. Chocolate flavor adds enough natural sweetness.

Instructions

Step 1: Mix dry ingredients

Combine oat flour, chocolate protein powder, and baking powder in a bowl.

💡 Tip: Grinding the oats gives the pancakes a smooth, cake-like texture.

Step 2: Add wet ingredients

Add the egg and milk (or soy milk), and mix until the batter has a thick yogurt-like texture.

💡 Tip: Protein powder can affect thickness, so add milk gradually.

Step 3: Cook the pancakes

Lightly oil a pan and cook over low to medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes on each side.

Flip when bubbles appear on the surface.

💡 Tip: Lower heat prevents burning and cooks the pancakes evenly.

Step 4: Serve with toppings

Top with bananas, berries, yogurt, or your favorite extras.

I like adding a drizzle of honey for a touch of sweetness.

Step 5: Enjoy

Serve warm and eat fresh for the best taste and texture.

Tips

  • Use a nonstick pan to avoid sticking
  • For fluffier pancakes, separate and whip the egg white before mixing
  • Add cinnamon or vanilla extract to boost flavor
  • These pancakes can be prepped in advance and stored for quick breakfasts
